Jon a no-show at TLC hearing

Sunday, December 13, 2009

The network wants the judge to stop Gosselin from making media appearances that it says violate his exclusive contract. TLC, owned by Discovery Communications, says the contract remains in force.

Gosselin says he has a right to earn a living as a media personality and also says in a countersuit that TLC violated Pennsylvania's child labor laws when it filmed his eight children.

'Renaissance' vid released

Local hip-hop fans who have been bumping Ro Spit and Monica Blaire's "Renaissance State of Mind" can now watch the Detroit love fest in video form.

A new vid for the tune, directed by Vandal, features local landmarks such as the Somerset Collection in Troy and downtown's MotorCity Casino. "Renaissance State of Mind" is a Motor City tribute inspired by Jay-Z and Alicia Keys' monster hit "Empire State of Mind."

The video can be seen at burnrubberdetroit.com. Ro Spit will be rapping tonight at the Shelter.

Meanwhile, Ro Spit, who co-owns the Burn Rubber sneaker boutique in Royal Oak, was named the winner of the CNN/Time Inc.-sponsored Sell Detroit contest. Five local ads were put up for a vote to help re-brand the D. They're expected to run in Fortune magazine, cnnmoney.com, fortune.com and time.com.

Grammy denies 'Hannah'

Miley Cyrus' hit single "The Climb" was removed from Grammy consideration for best song written for a soundtrack Thursday.

Featured in "Hannah Montana: The Movie," the track was written by Jessi Alexander and Jon Mabe. With "The Climb" out, the song with the next-highest number of votes moves into the category. It's "All Is Love," by Karen O (of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs), written for "Where the Wild Things Are."

The Grammy organization didn't explain the reasoning for yanking "The Climb," but a Cyrus source told MTV.com the tune was pulled because it wasn't written specifically for the "Hannah Montana" movie.
