Erica Grow fired from 6ABC Action News
Saturday, December 12, 2009
Poor Erica Grow, as she’s leaving Action News. Erica Grow and 6ABC are parting company at the end of her contract, which expires at the end of the year, station sources tell me. The weekend meteorologist, a native of Bethlehem and a 2002 Penn State grad, joined the station in January 2007. It’s not clear if she’ll be back on the air. She’s still on the station’s Web site, not surprising since she’s still an employee. Grow’s rise in the biz has been rapid. She started in 2003 at an ABC station in Odessa/Midland, Texas — market size #155 — and soon after moved back east, to join WHP, the CBS affiliate in Harrisburg — market size #39. Next stop was big-time: Philly, market #4. Grow replaced SallyAnn Mosey at 6ABC; Mosey has been freelancing for Fox29. Here’s Erica Grow’s bio on 6ABC:
Meteorologist Erica Grow joined the Action News AccuWeather team in January 2007. Erica appears each weekend morning on Action News, and on the Sunday edition of Action News at Noon.
As a youngster growing up in Lehigh Valley, Erica was always fascinated with winter snowstorms and summer thunderstorms. After graduating from Bethlehem’s Liberty High School, she pursued her weather interest at Penn State University, earning her Meteorology degree.
Erica’s first job in TV weather was at KMID-TV in Midland, Texas, as the Weekend Meteorologist. Her next stop was at WHP-TV in Harrisburg, PA as a Meteorologist and Reporter before joining 6abc.
In her spare time, Erica enjoys running, cooking, decorating, and spending time with her dog, Twango. She is also actively involved with local animal shelters, as well as charities through her alma mater, Penn State University.
