Charla Nash,56, was attacked in February 2009 by Travis, a chimpanzee, a chimp at her friend Sandy Herold’s house in Stamford, Connecticut. She lost her eyes, lips, hands, nose, various parts of her scalp and parts of her jawbone in the attack. Herold stabbed Travis to try and prevent him from killing Nash, but the attack only ended when the police arrived and shot Travis.

Since the attack Nash has been recuperating at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio after hours of extensive surgery. She appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show on November 11, 2009 to discuss her injuries. For the first time during this interview, she revealed her face to the world, expressing further the extent of her injuries.

Nash, Now she is moving ahead in a healing process that has medical staff marveling at her resiliency. Soon she will be discharged the Cleveland Clinic within a matter of weeks, more than a year earlier than doctors estimated.

Courageous woman despite her debilitating injuries, she looks forward to attend noemal life with her teenage daughter and her two brothers.
