oktoberfest harvard square 2009
Sunday, October 11, 2009
It will probably be a pretty busy day in front of the TV Sunday, what with the Red Sox hosting the Angels in Game 3 of the ALDS at 12:07 p.m., then the Patriots taking on the Broncos in Denver at 4:15 p.m. But you’ll certainly want to reserve some time to make it to Harvard Square for the 30th Annual Oktoberfest, featuring more than 200 stalls with various artists and sidewalk sale items, as well as more than 50 international food vendors.
Of course, there will be beer served at two separate gardens, as well as six stages of live entertainment. The kids will even have plenty to do, including a Thomas the Train ride around the square. Trust me, I know at least one kid who’s going to love that.
The Harvard Square Oktoberfest is free of charge and kicks off with the ceremonial keg tapping and toast at Grendel’s Den at noon. And don’t fret, there are plenty of spots to catch the games in Harvard Square. For more information on the area, check out our walking tour.
