Puea Thai: PM has no leadership

Prime Minister and Democrat Party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva lacks the leadership qualities after failing to promptly appoint a new police chief and should resign, Puea Thai Party spokesman Prompong Nopparit said on Sunday.
"Mr Abhisit is not capable to run the country and he has no leadership qualities and he is trying to interfere with the work of the Royal Thai Police," the speaker said.
He called on the prime minister to select a new police chief based on the moral principles and police regulations.
"Mr Abhisit does not see the importance of the person who will look after the people after he said 'the world does not revolve around the national police chief's post," Mr Prompong said.
He said the premier should quickly carry out the six-point charter change proposed by the parliament's committee for reconciliation and dissolve the House so a new general election can take place.
It would not be necessary to form a charter writing assembly, he continued.
He also reminded Mr Abhisit, the Election Commission (EC) and the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) to speed up their investigation into the controversial 258-million-baht donation to the Democrat Party and the party's alleged misuse of 29 million baht from the EC's political party development fund.
"The EC should wrap up its investigation by now. It should not be too considerate or fear the influential figures behind the Democrat Party," the opposition party speaker said.
