International flight schedules at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 (NAIA-1) have normalized on Sunday after the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) suspended some departures a day earlier due to tropical storm "Ondoy."
MIAA Assistant General Manager for Airport Development and Corporate Affairs Tirso Serrano also apologized to the passengers affected by the suspension, saying it was for their safety.
"Okay ang departure flight schedules, halos back to normal na sa Terminal 1 since 3 a.m. (The departure flight schedules are almost back to normal. We had been trying to get back to normal since 3 a.m.)," Serrano said on government-run dzRB radio.
He said MIAA General Manager Alfonso Cusi suspended several outgoing flights particularly at NAIA-1 since many areas in Metro Manila were flooded.
Some flights pushed through but were delayed for safety reasons, he added.
"We apologize for that. But as we have been saying all along basta ganitong difficult times unahin natin ang safety ng ating kababayan (We apologize for that. But as we have been saying all along, this is all for passengers' safety)," Serrano said.
He said passengers can consult flight schedules with MIAA through its hotlines at 3771109 local 3324 and 3544 (Terminal 1); locals 2069 and 2093 (Terminal 2); and locals 8093 and 8094 (Terminal 3).
