India to play Russia in Davis Cup World Group first round tie
Wednesday, September 23, 2009
Reuters - India will play Russia away in next year's Davis Cup World Group first round tie, marking their return to the elite grouping for the first time since 1998, following the draw announced on Wednesday.
The tie, to be played from March 5-7, comes after Somdev Devvarman led India to a 4-1 World Group playoff win in South Africa last week.
It was achieved despite conceding the doubles tie following injury to Mahesh Bhupathi after his partner Leander Paes had pulled out before the event due to shoulder injury.
