Swisher in Game 6 lineup

Joe Girardi decided to go with Nick Swisher tonight in right field instead of Jerry Hairston Jr., who started there when Pedro Martinez started Game 2 for the Phillies.

“We just felt he needed to sit down for a day and his at-bats have been really good since he sat,” Girardi said at his pregame press conference. “We don’t always look at how many hits you get. We look at the at-bats - does he hit the ball hard, does he square the ball up, is he seeing pitches. Swisher is our every-day right fielder and that’s who we are going with.”

Swisher went 2-for-4 with a home run and double in Game 3, but 0-for-5 with the three walks in the following two games.
