R & B songtress Monica is gearing up for the drop of her latest album and her reality TV show Still Standing premiering tonight on BET. This weekend marked her birthday celebration and Monica used the time to party with her celebrity friends at Luckie Lounge on Friday and celebrate the premiere the reality TV show on Sunday.

Clad in a gold and black metallic skirt and, black turtle neck and black knee high Chloe boots, Monica talked to the press about her growth as an artist and what Still Standing means to her as a woman and mother.
“It’s an opportunity to get a positive message across. This generation does rely a lot of faith and faith has been the key to my success,” Monica says. “I want to let people know it ix okay to be prayerful.”
Rocko was also there to greet the press and he says the show is an authentic portrayal of their family life.
“It’s us we’re not acting there are no scripts,” he explained. “The show is depicting a family unit.”
Family is what it is all about. Though the album and reality show is keeping Monica quite busy these days. She is taking time out to plan a birthday party for her sons and using the reality show as a model for the youth.
” For me its okay. We are who we are,” Monica says. "It’s cool for young people to be able to see two people coming together and actually doing something positive and being a family.”
Her relationship with Rocko and raising two sons are aspects of her life that influenced her album. The project is set to drop sometime in December and Monica says she worked hard to make the album a reflection of her life experiences.
“I talk about the past and present on the album,” she says. “When you go through bad situations you can appreciate the good ones. I‘ve done a lot of work as person. I’m excited about the album.”
Bryan Michael Cox has known Monica for 11 years says he is very proud of her as person and though she is younger she has always been his rock.
“I think Monica is going to show her growth as a young woman. You know we have watched her grow up,” Cox says. “We saw her as Miss Thang and now we get to see her as a mother and confident in her womanhood.”
