ANTM Cycle 13 Episode 7

Thursday, October 15, 2009

Go see time. Any America's Next Top Model vet knows this usually spells disaster. Surprisingly, things turned out okay on ANTM Cycle 13 Episode 7. The girls headed out in pairs to meet with a variety of clients, including fashion designers, jewelry designers and ad agencies. On top of walking in clothes and showing off jewels, the girls had to read for a commercial and even try out a British accent. Some had a bit of trouble driving around LA (Sundai claimed Rae drove like an 80-year-old woman), and some had problems with confidence (Kara, once again, who, as one client noted, had greasy hair).Rae and Sundai don't make it back in time, naturally. They are thus lampooned in front of the whole group and lectured about how tardiness can ruin a model's career (for the record, they were about two minutes late). Jennifer and Erin made it back in the nick of time, which Jennifer attributes to a split second where she closed her eyes and prayed to God. "I swear if I hadn't taken that minute to talk to him, I wouldn't have made it." I thought we had gotten rid of the religious nuts when Amber left for personal reasons in the beginning. Guess not. The girls were then given feed back: Jennifer had too much eye makeup on, Erin was a bit timid, Laura failed in her commercial read. Nicole took the win with an inspired commercial performance and impressive photos. One client noted that she had a "perfectly sculpted face." She won a dress from one of the designers, a pair of diamond earrings, and a commercial booking. Kara, who has it out for Nicole, was none too pleased. Although Kara has failed at practically everything so far, she retains a sense of entitlement and was livid that Nicole, who she considers strange and robotic, is knocking it out of the park. Try washing your hair, Kara. This episode's photoshoot was martial-arts themed, where the girls had to shoot half on the ground and half on the air in a harness. Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, if you will. Nicole is first. After failing to impress last week, Nicole showed great improvement. "You believe that she's a martial artist and that she's a dynamic model at the same time," says Mr. J. The girls each got to choose their weapon and had to pose combatively. All of the girls end up doing well, except Kara and Sundai. (Sundai is Kara's partner in crime and blatantly mocked Nicole to her face.) Oh, karma.Super model Jessica White guest judges this week. Nicole takes the win, with Laura and Britney taking silver and bronze. Sundai and Kara take bottom two, and Kara, thank goodness, is booted. Sundai is warned to give something other than a profile and start learning how to give some variety. I love how things are going so far this season. All the mean girls have been swiftly kicked off. Next week, the girls are interviewed on The Insider, and hysteria ensues.
