Agri damages from typhoons reach P7.6B (4:28 p.m.)

MANILA -- Agricultural losses from Typhoon Ondoy has reached P6.49 billion, while damages from Typhoon Pepeng has reached P1.14 billion for a total of P7.6 billion.
According to the Department of Agriculture (DA), Typhoon Ondoy caused P5.21 billion in damages to rice crops.
Typhoon Pepeng, on the other hand, caused P1.07 billion losses to rice.
For corn, total damages during Typhoon Ondoy were valued at P64.57 million, while Typhoon Pepeng damaged corn crops worth P22.033 million.
High Value Commercial crops losses during Typhoon Ondoy were valued at P140.60 million and P49.22 million during Typhoon Pepeng.
Damages in the irrigation sector, which include water technology during Typhoon Ondoy, have been pegged at P817.03 million.
In the fisheries sector, damages are valued at P2.73 million and 1.35 million in the livestock sector, which includes poultry products such as chicken, eggs and milk.
On the other hand, damages in facilities, infrastructures and equipment from the irrigations, fisheries and livestock sector during Typhoon Pepeng is yet to be determined.
