30 Rock's Back and Bob Mackie's Judging ‘Project Runway

Thursday, October 15, 2009

While it's not the Wednesday bliss of seeing Cameron (Eric Stonestreet) and Mitchell (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) as a perfectly pitched, bitching committed couple, Thursday night's television lineup has a charm all its own. Fang fans starving during the gap between True Blood and New Moon can relieve their famine with The Vampire Diaries’ hunky immortals, and 30 Rock makes its triumphant fourth-season return, which means Cheyenne Jackson is coming to your TV soon! It's a good night for some gay TV.

On a new episode of Community on NBC at 8 p.m., Jeff (Joel McHale), the cutest comic since Jon Stewart, gets to use his fast-talking skills to defend a classmate accused of cheating in Mr. Chang's (Ken Jeong) class. Plus the cast concocts a new fight song for the Community college. I hope it's as good as their effort at krumping.

Meanwhile on the CW, it’s an all-new, revealing episode of The Vampire Diaries when Stefan (Paul Wesley) retraces the roots of his rivalry with big bad-ass brother Damon (Ian Somerhalder). Things continue to get darker for the locals as Damon takes his evil plans to the next level.

Then on ABC at 9 o'clock, check in with your favorite melodramatic surgeons on Grey's Anatomy. As a hospital merger threatens some of our favorite faces, there's also the promise of new staff and hopefully more LGBT characters. Keep an eye out for J.P. Pitoc, whom gay fans may remember from Trick or Six Feet Under, as a guest star on tonight's episode.

At 9:30 on NBC, your comedy prayers will finally be answered. Emmy favorite 30 Rock returns with the season 4 premiere tonight. Find out how the hiatus went for all your funny favorites, Liz Lemon (Tina Fey), Jack Donaghy (Alec Baldwin), and Tracy Jordan (Tracy Morgan), and stay keen for hints about a new character headed to the building: Broadway star and out actor Cheyenne Jackson joins the hit show this season.

If you've been slacking on your Project Runway devotional hour since it jumped Bravo's ship and switched to Lifetime Network, time to tune in! You won't want to miss the new episode at 10, when the remaining hopefuls vie for guest judge Bob Mackie's approval (don't freak out yet; there's more...) to create a look for a gay icon, the glamorous Christina Aguilera (you may now freak out!).

In the late-night lineup, the perfect Taye Diggs stops by Jimmy Kimmel Live on ABC. Plus get more Gerard Butler, never a bad thing, as he continues to promote his new picture with Jamie Foxx, Law Abiding Citizen, on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon on NBC. Piano-rock Brits Keane play on Last Call With Carson Daly.
